Welcome! I’m Wendy Chen, an Australian writer and reader.
Feel free to have a look through my portfolio for my past and recent published writing.
I post reviews and recommendation posts focusing on marginalised voices in literature.
A few things about me:
- My favourite books of all time are When We Were Infinite and Picture Us in the Light by Kelly Loy Gilbert. Some more books I adore: Patron Saints of Nothing by Randy Ribay, This Light Between Us by Andrew Fukuda, Outrun the Moon by Stacey Lee, Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng, Front Desk by Kelly Yang, and Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan
- I’m a 1.5 generation Chinese-Australian 🙂
- I majored in Psychology in my Arts degree, and am passionate about destigmatising our understanding of mental health and representations of that in fiction, including how that intersects with culture
- My other major was in Chinese Studies, and I’m mostly proficient in Mandarin + written simplified Chinese, though it’s deteriorated over the years. I also studied two subejcts Chinese literature (in English translation) as part of this.
Thanks for dropping by!
